Designer Profile

I like to have a nice chat with you and hear your thoughts about what you want and how we can then create a custom interior tailored just to your needs. Four things are sought after in a home; the perfect location, a secure foundation, that it fit the functions of the family and that it fulfil your dreams. This is what makes residential interior design so fulfilling for me. There is nothing like the thrill of helping families create the home where they will live, love and laugh. All of us need a safe haven that nurtures us and our loved ones and makes it possible for us to function, that in a nutshell is the purpose of interior design. I hope you enjoy my portfolio pictures and decide to contact me to help you with your dream home. I enjoy all styles of design and have tried to post examples of each so remember if one of them is not you that's okay because it was that persons style and your dreams are what we will work to achieve together.

This combination dining and music room revolves around the central fireplace that opens up to both areas. My clients loved the concept of the open fireplace but were unsure about how to arrange the space. To bring the 2 spaces together the china hutch was placed on the common entry wall and used to display a collection of china & crystal & hand painted plates from the clients father along with family memoribila. Once the 2 spaces were connected in theme it was just a matter of creating an environment to dine and enjoy music from one of the family's many musicans.
The wonderful drama reflected on the exterior of this home continues to the interior.
Placing the drapes on the wall to each side of the window allows you to enjoy all the natural light and see the beautiful stained molding around the window. Treating a window in this manner also extends the size of your window.
Have fun mixing finishes on your dining room furniture to create a space that is welcoming to guests.
Guest's love to be able to look around the dining table and always encounter something new to veiw. It makes the dining an experience for all the senses.
This view really shows how important planning for traffic patterns can be. The details of how much space to allow for flow in todays open floor plans makes it a must to consult professional interior designers to review your plans before costly building mistakes can occur.
I love the way this pass through frames the view of the dining/music room view from the kitchen.
This wine storage is handy to the kitchen and the dining room. The mixture of stained wood and iron takes your mind to all things old world.
Getting a great shot of this foyer is almost impossible but I still wanted to share it with you because it is a great example of using scale to fill a space. The foyer's floor space is limited but the walls stretch up to the 2nd story so it was a must to fill that space with the correct size wall hangings. The oversized mirror brings in the light from the 2nd story window. Just because a space is small doesn't always mean you need to use small furnishing, the entire space must be considered.
This project for the Knoxville Symphony Show House was a fun challenge. Imagine a small closet under the stairs and being asked to store 50 bottles of wine and various liquor's in this space. Actually it was alot of fun designing this closet. All the iron work is custom and made by a local artisan. The glass in the door allows the iron to show through but keeps the cool air inside at just the right temp.
The corner area allowed for a floor to ceiling custom wine rack that matches the iron on the door and the smaller stairwell rack and the wood and iron shelves for the liquor.
This is another wine closet below a stairway. I love adding details like the back lighting of the wine bottles with low heat flourescent lighting that won't compromise the climate control.
All of the iron work was custom made by a local artisan to reflect the lines of the existing iron on the stairway. I love the added storage and quaint look that the racks on the wall add to the space.
The wall sconce and backlighting create ambience. Remember small spaces can be a great way to add something unexpected in your home. Think outside the box, this could also be a great office space. Don't just think of closets as storage for your Christmas decorations.
Designing creates fun oppurtunities like having the door pull in the initial of the home owner.
Taking existing elements like the iron stair rail and working them into new projects makes a new renovation seem like it was meant to be and not an after thought.
Be creative with your window treatments. Accentuate the architectural elements of your home as we did here with the scrolls over the higher arched window.
When a space is dramatic add to the drama, continue the statement.
2009 Show House Master Bath. You have to love the natural light in this room.
I love being able to participate in the Symphony Show House each year and this 2009 Master Bath was no exception. I also did an Artist Studio that year that was off of the Master Bedroom as the tub that was ordered for the space did not make it in for the show deadline. It turned out to be something the show goers got quite a kick out of because it was so unexpected. I love offering that to clients, something unexpected!!!
Fitness is something we all need but sometimes don't do. If you have a wonderful space to exercise in you are more likely to stay fit. Check out the wonderful cork floor, it provides great support when exercising and is eco friendly. Love that, 2 birds, 1 stone.
I love this kitchen!!! It may not be for everyone with the different finishes but I absolutely love it. To me it is the perfect way so get color, style and that warm cozy feeling of collected furnishings.
This island is what every busy mom needs. After school snacks, no problem they are in the drawers along with juice in the small fridge and a microwave will quickly have everyone eating popcorn while they finish that pesky homework. It is out of the way of mom in the kitchen and provides her the space to work on dinner while keeping a close eye.
The wood top was created by a local wood working artisan and gave the family a nice warm feeling in the eating area.
This was a great dinig room renovation for the clients. The existing space was small and had an open walk through from the foyer and another wall of windows and then the door to the kitchen being in the middle of another wall left only one location for a china hutch and that cramped the space. We added and arch to the doorway and two- way cabinets with glass doors to create a focal point as you enter from the foyer and make the space feel larger. The columns on the sides of the cabinets have back lighting in the ceiling and floor to wash the column with light and add interest to the corners.
The Architecture in this home is WOW! I love how we accented that by addressing the space above the cabinets and over the foyer entry by using art, florals and iron to bring your eye up to enjoy that space and make the home feel more open by bring your eye up into the space above.
This living area opens to the dining and kitchen in this home. This space works very well with all the others and provides an island eating area, an office area with the secretary and plenty of seating for entertaining. Add in the high ceilings and who wouldn't be comfy cozy but not claustrobhopic.
Umm!!! Nothing finer than dining al-fresco!!!
I just love a round dining table, everyone can see each other and conversation just flows. Notice the chair back gimp and how it draws your eye around the table.
This piano room is located just off the foyer and kitchen and was intended as a formal dining room but my clients didn't need 2 dining spaces so we reporposed this space and created an intimate piano room to sit and chat and sip some wine with friends while enjoying your favorite tunes.
Not only would sweet dreams come to any woman sleeping in this master suite but check out how clever to camouflage the return vent with an oversized mirror proped at an angle to reflect the rooms splndor.
I love helping clients get all the amenities they need in the space they have.
This is not only a fun space but has more function packed features than you can imagine. You pretty much have to imagine because we hid most of them so we could provide the clean crisp lines that this client loves. It's so fun that every project becomes my favorite.
If you are using natural stone for your countertops you need to be sure that your fabricator is going to lay out the granite to best show off its own best features.
This was my clients favorite view when this project was completed. He could see the kitchen, dining, foyer, hall, billards and family room from his kitchen sink. This renovation worked so well when we elimanated 2 walls that were perpendicular to each other. Don't attempt this without professional advise from designers and engineers.
This is a Home office remodel above a garage. This view shows the custom desk and credenza area and the top of the new stairway that was added in the foyer to access the new office space.
